“Its as a result of the liver failure from long-term hepatisis and it appears as though he was mentally deranged”t with his trusted friend Sulieman . Suleiman was rather calmer and cooler and once threatened Adam that he would leave the apartment if he does not stop his behaviour. Well at least Adam tried to yield to the advice though.n eligible bachelor he had folks of girls , sometimes he mocks his friends saying that it was because of his good looks and charm. One of such his friends Adam felt it was rather because he had money. James was well to do, coming from a rich background .
Adams was a lot like James as he had numerous girlfriends around him , he was working and shared his apartment with his trusted friend Sulieman . Suleiman was rather calmer and cooler and once threatened Adam that he would leave the apartment if he does not stop his behavior. Well at least Adam tried to yield to the advice though.
It was mid august when the rains were heavy and an accident happened involving Sulieman, he was rushed into the hospital and he lost so much blood that he needed blood transfusion . Adam was the only available person and unfortunately no available blood in the blood bank. Surprisingly Adam and Suleiman were both B positive ,so his blood screened partially true because there was no time.
The transfusion was successful and Suleiman survived , he was thankful to Adams for saving his life. Their bond grew stronger . After a year Adam got a top job and had to move to another state but they still got in touch and Adam finally settles down with a wife.
On one fateful day the story of Adam`s death came in as a terrible shock to both James and Suleiman . The story behind the death was mysterious as he was said to have developed abdominal swelling and had even mental illness .
Sulieman was visibly shaken …
Life continued and not quite long did Sulieman develop a fever and abdominal pain , he was however quick to tag it as typhoid therefore he took some antibiotics. And suddenly his colleges at work begin to noticed a yellow green decolouration in his eyes. And with that he quickly went to the hospital and he was so scared as many thought rushed through his head . On getting to the hospital he had many test done which included blood test and urine tests. The result came out subsequently ,LO and behold he had Viral Hepatitis Type C.
After confirming the result Suleiman eagerly asked the Doctor “please sir whats this disease ,am I going to die?”
Well the Doctor said it was an infectious disease and that he must have gotten infected by someone who had it . Sulieman was still confused “ but I don’t sleep around I don….”
The Doctor immediately interrupted “You don’t have to sleep around to get it, it can also be gotten from sharing sharp blood transfusion and mother to child” Ohh my God Suleiman muttered under his breathe “Did you have any recent blood transfusion ?” asked the doctor.
“Well it was some two years back but the blood was scree…”
He stopped immediately as he remembered that it was Adam that transfused him and he overheard a health worker saying it was only screened for HIV as he was on a brink of dying.
What is happening? What if this is what killed Adam ? No Adams death was more of spiritual he ranted to himself.
“Yes…you said the blood was screened..”
“Yes sir only for HIV’
And then Sulieman explained everything to the doctor about Adam and even his death.
“ He possibly had Hepatic encephalopathy”
“whats that doctor “
Heavy words he thought .
“Its as a result of the liver failure from long-term hepatises and it appears as though he was mentally deranged”
“Doctor is that what happened to me ?”
Suleiman cried
“No calm down…we would start you on treatment but at least the disease would subside and you have to be complaint with clinic visitation and medications”
The doctor further explained that the disease took many forms. Some can get better others can get worse and develop deadly symptoms and others can have liver failure or even cancer on the long run.
The doctor showed his surprise as he thought how ignorant Suleiman was on the disease.
“But before now you did not know of the vaccine?”
“No sir”
“There are vaccines all over the health care facilities ,some are even free and cheap , you even get a free test before the vaccine.”
“I had no idea doctor in fact I care less about my health and when i feel down I take over the counter drugs”
“That’s very terrible and dangerous as you can kill yourself or make your condition worse”
Suleiman was able to keep up with his treatment and the viral load went down.
At this time he heard Adams wife had the illness , he felt bad as he was told it was very difficult to achieve complete cure. When he got better he old James about the incident and this prompted him to screen himself .
He was of luck as he was negative and with that he received the three doses of the vaccines (although its not a life long one)
And this further made James take his health seriously.
