The biggest challenge in my community is insurgency. Surreal is one way of describing the overall feeling you get when you look into the faces and souls of the inhabitants of Borno State. My community has gone through six (6) long years of agony, hurt and dispair; despite this sad fact, the citizenry is now attempting to come back into normalcy.
It is stretched beyond imaginable limits with more than one and the half million internally displaced persons. In my community, there have been families which were split into insurgents and victims; there are children who will never know the love & warmth of their parents.
Many have spent 5 - 6 years out of school or live under the care of strangers or no care at all. Many have seen deaths and other psychologically traumatising experiences.
The biggest challenge in my community is insurgency. Surreal is one way of describing the overall feeling you get when you look into the faces and souls of the inhabitants of Borno State. My community has gone through six (6) long years of agony, hurt and despair; despite this sad fact, the citizenry is now attempting to come back into normalcy.
My community lived in a nightmare for many years; even if the insurgency is comprehensively defeated soon, this will only mark the beginning of another long and tasking challenge to relocate, rebuild and revive lives and livelihood.
In my community, we have seen many signs amongst the population that there is hope for a safe and secure future. It is not just my communities future but OUR future, the future of all Nigerians, because every Maiduguri is home to many different tribes and people from all over the country; Borno State has long been a home, it is the "Home of Peace"
