MY EXPERIENCE WITH PEOPLE. (Roommates)
EVELYN IKPE
Having stay privileged to have spent all my stay in the hostel since I was offered admission into ahmadu Bello University Zaria kaduna state, in most rooms I have stayed, the persons I spent time with in these rooms are great, wonderful individuals with different characters, the hot or cold, wet and dry, cultural values, family backgrounds, religion, thereby can be said to have reflected in their conduct, dress sense, food type, ways of interaction, mode of greeting down to what their believes were.
THE DIFFERENCE:
In my first year, my roommates were majority Muslim out of the seven persons that room, five Muslim's of which all grow up within the northern region. This made my rapoor with them from the beginning of the section a little strain.
my loving first year roommates.
Sister fauzy asked me one day, one day, that why is it that whenever I am entering the room I don't usually recite "assalamu alaikum" and then those with the premise would respond "Wa alaikumussallam" the meaning was later explained to me "peace unto you" and the response meaning " peace onto as well" of which I don't really know the meaning as at the time and don't know why it is been said, but smiled and told her, don't really know what the was something that I marveled at.

I happened to have finished my lecture quite on time one day in my first year, walked into the room to meet my roommates eat a meal prepared by Fatimas, Amina my bunk mate, and fauziya, asked what are they eating they told me.. Its called " Dan wa ke" made out of floor, spiced with potash, and a greenish ingredient known amongst the northern people as "kuka" was was some how not encouraged not to taste the food, due to it's appearance... But pretend that I am not too well and need rest.. Of course my darling roomys won't let that pass, but reserve my potion... Haha..

Third year in school, I still remember an event that happened, of which the entire roommates agreed that they would get gift for whichever room person they happen to pick her name, I happened to pick Christina's name.
On the day we choose in the room to present our gifts by my roommates I presented an old stove to her, you needed to have seen they reaction haha.. She said I won't receive this stove, I plead with her, she said ina... That can't be hers and that was how I

put the roommates into silence, some of them were really disappointed, but before there could say more I surprised my sweet roommates with my gift. How can I forget those times the Dean of students affairs packed our plates and pot due to the way he saw them on entrying the hostel... It's was a time I came to realize that roommates are actually sisters the way we all left for Mr. Bambale's place to plead even though some of our properties were not seized, made me realize every roommates are family...
My Third year roommates.... Picture above.
With time we accept ourselves the way we are, yeah yeah... Because I find out we later was able to tolerate celebrate one another and care for ourselves we eat together, tell stories, celebrate, laugh and sometimes feel sad whenever one is involved.
